Description

Mach Desktop is your desktop reinvented. Mach Desktop offers you to run three kinds of data types on your desktop: Quartz compositions, Quicktime movies, and Web pages. Quartz Compositions are a Mac OS X-only data type that allows developers to quickly and easily make stunning 3D compositions. Since Quartz Compositions are easy to make, there are literally thousands of them available. Quartz compositions are built using a visual programming environment that take advantage of a massive set of technologies including but not limited to; Particle generators, 3D shapes, collision detection, realistic physics, 3D textures, per pixel lighting, video capturing and so much more. Quartz Compositions have been begging to be let out on the desktop for way too long: and Mach Desktop delivers. Many screen savers are also quartz compositions as well.

In addition to Quartz Compositions, Mach Desktop can also play Quicktime movies. The explosion of Quicktime has never been higher. Hundreds, maybe even thousands, of applications support exporting as Quicktime and it's often very easy to grab a Quicktime version of a video on the Internet. However, it's so much more than just playing quicktime movies. You can easily set Mach Desktop to play a portion of a movie by positioning two sliders. You can slow down or speed up movies so it sounds like chipmunks. And of course you can set the volume. If you have additional Quicktime plug ins installed, Mach Desktop will automatically take advantage of those extra movie formats. One may think this may be enough for a good looking desktop, but we didn't stop there. In addition to Quartz Compositions and Quicktime movies, we also added Web Page support. Have a favorite web page you can't stop visiting? Put it on the desktop.

Lastly, instead of just making the desktop aesthetically appealing, we also added a concept called Desktop Widgets. Desktop Widgets do what they suggest: They are widgets that live on your desktop, and are always just a keystroke or mouse gesture away. The widgets themselves are actually already on your system, we just wrote a simple Dashboard emulation layer; so you can run the most popular Dashboard widgets right on your Desktop. Constantly opening and closing the Calculator app? Keep the Calculator widget on your desktop. Tired of looking up phone numbers in the Yellow Pages? That's where the Yellow Pages widget comes in handy. Want a quick glance of what the weather is like outside? Widgets have you covered. Several widgets are available, including but not limited to; yellow pages, a calculator, stickies, translation, sports news and scores, movies, stocks, and more. With stunning desktop imagery and desktop widgets, the Macintosh Desktop has never looked so good. Download Mach Desktop today and see how much better it is than living in a normal desktop environment.
